ALWIN SMOKE
THE MUSIC OF ALWIN SMOKE

Musician Biography

My life as a musician truly began at the age of 11; after listening to various jazz and swing records from my fathers collection and watching a live TV concert by the band Barclay James Harvest, it became clear to me that I wanted to become a musician.

Initially, I gravitated toward the drums, but I soon realized that focusing solely on rhythm didn't fully satisfy my overall passion for music, so I began exploring other instruments.

I eventually found my true musical loves in the guitar—specifically the Fender Stratocaster—as well as the drums and vocals. I also incorporate bass guitar and piano/keyboards whenever the music calls for them.

I have written a story that has been set to music in the form of the *Saggattaria* and *The Last Dance* albums, and is currently being—or has already been—reimagined in magnificent "Epic Orchestra" versions.
It is the tragic tale of "Timothey" (the novels protagonist), who, driven by a desperate existence plagued by heroin addiction, attempts to take his own life by violent means; he fails and ends up in a realm between life and death known as "Saggattaria." The continuation of the story is set for April 2027...

With the 2015 album *Spirits Free*, I indulged my passion for blues and folk music. Recommended tracks include "My Girl In The Sunrays," "Roots Of My Life," and "Sunset."
Released in 2019, *Five Steps To Zero* marked a return to a classic/pop-rock sound, featuring my own arrangements of a few traditional songs.

In 2021, I released *Six String Stories*, a "physical" instrumental guitar album in which I celebrate my love for the Fender Stratocaster.

Overall, I do not feel "strictly" bound to any single musical genre; music in general offers too many beautiful facets for that. That said, my primary musical ambitions certainly lie within the realms of orchestral rock and pop.
